new paintings

Here's a couple of new small paintings from the past couple of weeks. These are oil on canvas 18" x 24". The colors on the first one are not too accurate as it's a very dark painting.

Will be previewing some new coin pieces from an upcoming show I'm having that I will fill you all in on soon when everything's confirmed date wise....

i love this scene

if you haven't seen no country for old men, then probably don't watch. I wouldn't say this is a spoiler, but it is the last scene.

I haven't seen the movie in a while, but something brought this scene to mind today.

phontos

Deinstalling a show in a museum can often be a very boring experience - and recently we've been presented with the gift of busy work, the most recent incarnation of which consisted of pulling up carpets in the film rooms. You all know the kind I'm talking about - the dark rooms that branch off from the main galleries with various video art inside. Anyways, so these rooms are all painted black, and usually don't have any lighting - so we had to pull up carpet with illumination from industrial worklights. Anyways, the effect of the grated lights on the black walls was cool, so I spent some time messing about adjusting angles and such, and taking some photos (only with the iPhone, unfortunately) and these are the results.

kria Brekkan

Hey I can't get enough of Kria Brekkan's stuff. This is a cool example of her playing live. Check it:

WOW!

Another music post, this one being the hot hot track WOW from the Johnson & Jonson album from last year.

Wait not that one.....

YEAH here we go..
Johnson and Jonson are BLU spittin it from LA and Mainframe whose been getting shouted out by Common since he had Sense...
A luscious stab of a loop with a rambling riding flow. Dillalicious! (no dilla included but he'd get down with it)
Grab WOW and then snag the whole album at eMusic.
(((If you join emusic mention my email address when you do and I get free mp3s.....)))
I promised you more posts didn't I?

interlethargy

Hello blog world. It's been a while. Been trying to just be in the studio. Have a new series I'm working on for an upcoming show. More details and previews about that are forthcoming. Here's some shots of the studio from when it was cleaned up recently to tide you over.

Matty has been hassling me for a shot of this painting.

And this guy keeps me working. He's my personal Ed Smith.
